GENERAL QUESTIONS
What exactly is mold?
The easiest answer, mold is a type of fungi similar to mushrooms
or yeast. Even though mold is receiving ample coverage on television these days, it's actually been around
for centuries. DID YOU KNOW? - There are more than 100,000 species of mold. In the United States there
are at least 1,000 common types.
What does mold need to colonize?
Just
like us, air, food, and water is all mold needs to thrive.
AIR is everywhere!
FOOD is any dead, organic material.
WATER is the only element needed for mold to flourish that we can possibly control.
Why
can't we just get rid of all molds?
Believe it or not, characteristics of mold and it's ability to decompose other materials plays a crucial
role in the environment. When one living thing dies there must be some decomposition. If there weren't decomposition,
the total amount of organic matter that we are all composed of would continue to increase and increase, meaning that there
would be no room left.
What
should I do if I think I have a mold problem?
You have two choices:
1) Deny there is a problem, resulting in aggravation of the problem, including further growth of mold and further
exposure to health risks.
2) Hire a professional, like us, to identify
